Presenter(s)
CPC Learning Network Founding Director, Dr. Neil Boothby, and CPC Senior Research Associate, Cyril Bennouna, hosted a webinar on monitoring attacks on education in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Somalia on Tuesday, April 26, at 8am EDT. Despite armed attacks on education affecting students and school personnel around the world, there are no validated, streamlined, and pragmatic methods available for monitoring attacks on education. However, findings from the DRC and Somalia suggest that semi structured interviews with key informants using a short recall period, and then confirming a subsample of the reports, constitutes a feasible, reliable, and relatively sensitive method for monitoring attacks on education. The Executive Director of the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict, Eva Smets, responded with ways this information may be used in the future along with possible future directions.
