Stakeholder engagement

A thorough engagement process is vital to safeguarding children in the project, just like it is to addressing other concerns and potential project harms. Childrens' issues should be raised throughout all consultation and community engagement activities. This will help to establish what groups of children are most at risk for sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) in the project area. An important consideration is also whether to directly consult children, which may cause harm if done without due preparation and safeguards. See below for resources on community engagement.
